The Buffalo Bills continue adding to their roster for the 2024 NFL season, with Adam Schefter sharing news on Thursday that the team has come to an agreement on a one-year contract with linebacker Deion Jones.

An eight-year NFL veteran, the 29-year-old Jones has played for three NFL teams — most recently as a member of the Carolina Panthers last season.

Jones entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2016 and played six seasons there before joining the Cleveland Browns for the 2022 season.

In eight seasons, Jones has played in 109 games (making 91 starts), making 731 tackles (475 solo), 50 tackles for loss, 24 quarterback hits, 12 sacks, 53 pass defenses, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 13 interceptions for 384 yards and five touchdowns.

The bulk of Jones' production came while playing linebacker for the Falcons, where he was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2016, and was nominated to the Pro Bowl in 2017. In the run-up to the draft in 2016, Jones was timed at 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash, while claiming a 35" vertical jump.

Deion Jones will provide the Bills with tremendous depth at linebacker for the 2024 season. He brings a wealth of starter's experience, a history of game-changing plays, and proficiency operating within multiple types of defensive schemes. Should the team find themselves in a similar linebacker situation to last season, Jones is exactly the type of player who can be trusted to hold the fort down if called upon.
