The New York Police Department began clearing encampments at New York University and the New School on Friday morning and took more than 50 demonstrators into custody. Pro-Palestinian protests and resulting police actions continued to roil the campus and many others across the country; more than 130 people were arrested at the State University of New York at New Paltz, and 17 were taken into custody at the University of Notre Dame late Thursday night. In Oregon, law enforcement officers cleared a library at Portland State University for a second time Thursday night, with the day's arrests there reaching at least 30.
