As one of Hollywood's leading ladies, Emily Blunt lives out the desires of some viewers and kisses some of the silver screen's most desirable men. Sometimes, however, her task is a burden that leaves her wanting to be sick.

The star of Mary Poppins Returns said that while she has developed techniques for kissing her co-stars to whom she is not attracted, she has not enjoyed some of her encounters.

Asked whether she ever "wanted to throw up" after kissing an actor, Blunt, 41, told Howard Stern, the American radio host: "Absolutely. Absolutely."

Blunt did not reveal which star had made her want to vomit but said that she enjoyed working with Dwayne Johnson, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon and Cillian Murphy.

"I think my feeling is I've got to find something I love about everybody," she said."It might be like they have a nice laugh or I like how they speak to people. But find something you love about that person or something you love about them as the character," she said, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

"I have had chemistry with people [but] I have not had a good time working with them. It's sometimes a strange thing. Sometimes you can really, really like someone and you can be pals if you have a rapport that's really effortless, but it doesn't translate on screen.

"Chemistry is this strange thing. It's like there or it's not. And you can manufacture it. I've been doing this long enough. I could have chemistry with this water bottle at this point. You know how to conjure it. But it's just easier when you have a natural rapport with someone."

Anne Hathaway, Blunt's co-star in The Devil Wears Prada, said that she had to kiss ten men for a "chemistry read" for a film. She said that she took part because she was young and scared of being labelled difficult.

Hathaway, 41, told V Magazine: "Back in the 2000s — and this did happen to me — it was considered normal to ask an actor to make out with other actors to test for chemistry, which is actually the worst way to do it."

She said: "I was told, 'We have ten guys coming today and you're cast. Aren't you excited to make out with all of them?' And I thought, 'Is there something wrong with me?' because I wasn't excited. I thought it sounded gross."

Hathaway said that the process was not malicious and that "it was just a very different time and now we know better".
