"Apple Pencil Pro" spotted in code on Apple's Japanese site

Code on Apple's website in Japan mentions the "Apple Pencil Pro" — a potential hint at what's to come during the company's iPad event on Tuesday, as spotted by X user @ribu_ap712 and reported by MacRumors.

The code, which The Verge confirmed, was uncovered in the alternative text that describes the GIF for the Apple event and mentions a "Pencil Pro" several times. A version of the text translated by Google reads:

Green, yellow, orange, and blue paper are folded to form the Apple logo. Inside the logo, a creator's hand is seen holding an Apple Pencil Pro, preparing to draw. Orange and pink splashes burst from the tip of the Apple Pencil Pro, which is pressed against the bottom of the logo, creating a vibrant wave pattern upwards. As the creator rotates the Apple Pencil Pro between his thumb and index finger, pink, orange, and white droplets swirl in its wake, and the paper flutters gently with the movement.

Conversely, the alternative text for Apple's website in the US (and in other regions) describes the image as showing an Apple Pencil — not an Apple Pencil Pro. It's possible that this was just a mistake and that the person entering the alternative text meant to write the Apple Pencil. The Verge reached out to Apple with a request for comment but didn't immediately hear back.

Apple is expected to show off new iPads during its "Let Loose" event on Tuesday. Rumors also suggest that Apple could introduce a refreshed Apple Pencil with interchangeable magnetic tips and a squeeze gesture.
