' Ghilli ', the 2004 Tamil entertainer is having a theatrical re-release after 2 decades, and the film will be available in theatres across the globe from tomorrow (Apr 20). 'Ghilli' is the Tamil remake of the Telugu blockbuster 'Okkadu' and it features Vijay and Trisha in the main roles. Fans are all set to welcome the most-watched Tamil film on big screens, and the blockbuster drama has resumed box office operations after 20 years. The pre-bookings for 'Ghilli' are going super strong across locations, and the Vijay starrer is set to have a record occupancy for a re-released film.
According to Cinetrak, 'Ghilli' has earned around Rs 3 crore in the worldwide pre-sales for the opening day with less than 24 hours to go for the film's re-release. The wide release for the entertaining film has designated it to have a massive opening, and the film is expected to earn Rs 6 crore on day 1 in Tamil Nadu. The worldwide collection for 'Ghilli' on day 1 of its re-release might go over Rs 10 crore, and Vijay's film is likely to emerge as the highest-grossing film on the opening day among re-releases.
Directed by Dharani, 'Ghilli' had an extended theatrical run of over 200 days, and it went on to become the first-ever Tamil film to collect Rs 50 crore globally. Vijay transformed into a box office powerhouse with the success of 'Ghilli', and he has now become one of the leading actors in the South.
