Google

is reportedly planning to add new features to its

Gemini

app on Android. The AI-powered virtual assistant, which replaced Google Assistant on

Android

devices in February, is expected to offer faster responses and access to third-party music streaming platforms such as

Spotify

.

In a post on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter) a developer named AssembleDebug (in collaboration with Piunikaweb) has discovered a

Real-Time Response

option in the Gemini app.

As per the report, Google will allow users to manually enable the toggle.

Earlier, the developer shared a post on X, revealing that Google's

Gemini Assistant

will start allowing Android users to choose their preferred music service provider, including third-party platforms like Spotify.

These X posts also include screenshots to explain how these new features will work with the Gemini app.

Google Gemini may get new features: What it means for users

The screenshot shared on X shows that Google has added a new toggle in the settings of the Gemini app on Android. The toggle also comes with a description that says: "Responses will show in real-time while in progress."

This means just like the web version, the Gemini app on Android will offer users the ability to read the response as it's being generated. Currently, Gemini app users have to wait for the chatbot to generate the entire response before they're able to read it.

This improvement will enable users to save a few seconds by letting them start reading responses as soon as it's being generated. This feature can be particularly useful for users who only care about the first few paragraphs or lines of a lengthy response.

The other X post includes screenshots that show Gemini may soon get a "Music" option in its settings page that will allow the user to "select preferred services used to play music." The screenshot shows that it will be the second option on Gemini's settings page.

On tapping this Music option, users will be taken to a page where they can choose their default media provider. This page is expected to appear empty when no services have been listed.

This feature will allow users to choose a service that Gemini can integrate with. Once integrated, this will enable users to get Gemini to play music with voice commands.
