Adobe Firefly Image 3: Adobe Introduces Next-Gen AI Image Creator At MAX London For Photoshop, FireFly Beta Web App; Details

Adobe has announced its Adobe Firefly Image 3 Foundation Model for Photoshop users in beta and the Firefly web app. The company claims the upgraded generative AI model offers higher-quality output, better prompt understanding and more details in AI images. The faster model also gets better lighting and text-based advancements.

According to Adobe's blog post, web users of the Firefly app can try out new features in 'Text To Image' (Structure Reference and Style Reference) and 'Generative Fill' (Generative Expand). For a quick background, the company already offers Firefly in Adobe apps like Photoshop, Express, Illustrator, InDesign and more.

The new Firefly Image 3 offers new auto-stylisation capabilities and more control over the styles of the image. The output will also include a wide range of colours, styles, backgrounds, subject poses and more. With Structure Reference, users can generate output similar to reference images. Using Style Reference, users can personalise the styles of the results.

"Firefly Image 3 has a better understanding of text prompts and scenes, enabling image generations that accurately reflect long, complex prompts and include richer details," Adobe said. Users can also try out the improved capabilities for generating icons, logos, raster images and other illustrations. The generative AI will be available in beta via the Firefly web app. Adobe offers paid and free plans with Generative Credits to use AI features in Adobe apps.

Firefly is trained on the licensed content of services like Adobe Stock to generate output for commercial use. At Max London, the Creativity Conference of the company, new advancements for Photoshop in beta were also announced. While 'Reference Image' allows a user to imagine photos via user-selected content, the 'Text to Image with Generate Image' allows text-based image generation in Photoshop directly.

'Generate Background' (to replace and create backgrounds) and 'Generate Similar' (to explore variations of output) are among other features highlighted by Adobe. The 'Enhance Detail' will help improve the details and sharpness of an image. Additional valuable tools that were introduced include 'Adjustment Brush', 'Improved Font Browser' and 'Adjustment Presets'.
