Khera on Sunday resigned from the party claiming that criticism over her visit to Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya led to the denial of justice to her in the incident that happened at the Chhattisgarh Congress office

A day after quitting Congress, Radhika Khera on Monday alleged that some of her ex-party leaders locked her in a room, abused and manhandled her at the state Congress office in Chhattisgarh.

Khera on Sunday resigned from the party claiming that criticism over her visit to Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya led to the denial of justice to her in the incident.

Addressing a press conference today, she said that Congress started attacking her since the day she put Lord Ram's flag at my house. "Is it wrong to talk about your religion? I was being insulted time to time. When Rahul Gandhi's Nyay Yatra was in Chhattisgarh, media chairman Sushil Gupta offered me liquor and they in drunken condition knocked on my doors late nights," she said.

"On 30th evening when I went to talk Sushil Anand Shukla at state congress office, he abused me and shouted on me. They locked me inside, he with other two state spokesperson abused me. I screamed but no one opened the door. I was manhandled. I also complained to congress Maha mantri but no one pay heed to my complaints," she added.

Khera was sent from Delhi as the Communication and Media Coordinator for Chhattisgarh for the ongoing Lok Saha elections by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Notably, an argument took place between Khera and Chhattisgarh Congress' communication wing chairperson Sushil Anand Shukla on April 30 in the party office in Raipur over the visit of senior leader Pawan Khera the next day, party sources had said. A video purportedly of Khera had gone viral in which she claimed that she was insulted. In her resignation letter, Khera stated it is an established truth since ancient times that those who support religion face opposition.

"Examples of this range from Hiranyakashyap to Ravana and Kansa. At present, some people are opposing those who take the name of Lord Shri Ram in the same way," she added.
