Apple is expected to launch its latest M4 processors this year, and now according to a new report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant will skip the M3-powered Mac Mini.

In the Q&A of the latest Power On newsletter on Bloomberg, Gurman claimed that by altogether skipping the M3 Mac mini, Apple would focus on a new M4-powered Mac Mini, which should also have multiple generative AI features. More AI features of the upcoming M4 chipsets are rumoured to be previewed at Apple's WWDC event in June 2024. However, it is very unlikely that Apple unveils any major hardware at WWDC as it is more of a software event.

Last year in July though, Gurman had reported that an M3-powered Mac mini would come out in 2024. However, Apple has launched multiple MacBooks with M3 chipsets in the coming months but still hasn't provided an upgrade over the last-generation M2 Pro and M2 Mac minis.

Previously, Gurman had also claimed that M4 and M4 Pro-powered Mac minis would arrive between the end of 2024 and early 2025. But, in his latest newsletter, he backed down on this claim, explaining that the possible launch of an M4 Mac mini by the end of 2024 would mean that Apple's entire focus now will be on M4-powered machines.

Apple debuted its 3nm M3 processor with the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro variants and a new 24-inch iMac, in October last year. The latest MacBook Pro laptops have M3, M3 Pro and M3 max chipsets.

This year in March, Apple also launched its latest M3-powered MacBook Air models, with 13-inch and 15-inch displays. But it looks like the Mac mini could very well miss out on the M3 processor completely.
