Actor Chunky Panday and his wife Bhavana Panday have been close friends with Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan since before SRK became the superstar that he is today. In a recent interview, Chunky recalled the time when SRK-Gauri lived in a rented flat instead of the magnificent Mannat. Chunky also said that he was sure that Shah Rukh would become a superstar one day.

Speaking to Time Out With Ankit, Chunky said, "I think one of his first friends in Bombay when he arrived was my younger brother Chikki. They're still the best of friends. So, at that time, they (Shah Rukh and Gauri) were renting a place and they used to come to meet my brother, sab baith ke video cassettes dekhte the. So he and Gauri were in my house quite often."

He added, "With Shah Rukh, I was so sure this boy is gonna become a superstar. Because he had that in him, you can see that fire…He's always had that. That talent has always been there with him before he became the superstar. So he's very confident and he knew where he was going. I mean, yeah, of course very proud that I've known him since then. He hasn't changed."

Chunky's family still remains quite close to Shah Rukh and his family. Shah Rukh's daughter Suhana Khan and Chunky's daughter Ananya Panday have been best friends since they were kids. Ananya also often accompanies Shah Rukh and Suhana Khan and Kolkata Knight Rider's IPL matches across the country.
