Adil Hussain Says 'Will Not Change My Stand'

In a recent interaction with The Times of India, Adil Hussain was asked about Sandeep Reddy Vanga's reaction to his Kabir Singh comment. Hussain, who had a small role in the movie, said, "I'm in the US right now and haven't seen Sandeep's post. Neither do I intend to. What I said (about Kabir Singh) was in an interview, and not on social media. I was completely shocked when I saw the film and I regret doing it. I will not change my stand."

What Did Adil Hussain Say About Kabir Singh?

Recently, Adil Hussain appeared on AP Podcast's YouTube channel when he talked about being a part of Kabir Singh and confessed "regretting" the role. He recalled going into the theatre to watch the film and walking out in 20 minutes. He called the film 'misogynist' and added that he wouldn't recommend it even to his wife.

"I think a film like this celebrates something which is not beneficial for society. It legitimises male misogyny. It legitimises violence against anybody, for that matter, doesn't have to be a woman. And it celebrates it, it glorifies it, and it should not be glorified," he said.

Later, Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga also reacted to Adil Hussain's comment and bashed the actor saying he will replace Adil's face in the film using AI. "Ur 'belief' in 30 art films didn't get as much fame to u as ur 'regret' of 1 BLOCKBUSTER film did I regret casting u, knwing that ur greed is bigger than ur passion. NOW I'll save U from the shame by replacing Ur face with AI help Now smile properly," Vanga wrote on his X handle.

Released in 2019, Kabir Singh was one of the biggest hits of the year. The film starred Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead but was called a misogynist by many.
