The iPhone 15 series was launched last year in September 2023. Since then, the four models of the series have seen several price drops and offers. However, the top iPhone 15 Pro Max rarely gets any discount. Despite its hefty price, Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max emerged as the best-selling smartphone worldwide during the first three months of 2024, a new report from Counterpoint Research suggested. It must be noted that this is the first time a Pro Max iPhone has achieved the number one position in a non-holiday quarter, showing the growing consumer demand for high-end features.

Not just the premium iPhone 15 Pro Max, the report reveals that all four models of the iPhone 15 series, along with last year's iPhone 14, made it into the top 10 best-selling list. This shows that smartphone buyers are interested in buying the latest iPhone over its older siblings. Check out the top 10 best selling smartphones of the first quarter of 2024.

Smartphone Trends Based On Report

A notable trend is the increasing popularity of premium smartphones priced at $500 or higher. Seven out of the top 10 best-sellers fell into this premium category, indicating that buyers are prioritising advanced features and longer-lasting devices over lower prices.

While Apple dominated the top ranks, Samsung also had a strong showing with its Galaxy S24 Ultra taking the 5th spot and the base Galaxy S24 model coming in at number 9. The report highlights the broader trend of consumers holding onto their smartphones for longer periods due to limited differentiation in new models. As a result, buyers are gravitating towards high-end devices with premium features to ensure their phones remain relevant for years to come.
