Superman: David Corenswet suited up as the Man of Steel.

Actor David Corenswet is best known for his roles in Ryan Murphy's shows such as The Politician and Hollywood.

'Superman' writer-director James Gunn has unveiled the first official look at David Corenswet suited up as the Man of Steel. Although mostly hidden, the photo does seem to confirm that David Corenswet's Superman will have the famous red underwear, which was absent on the DC Extended Universe Superman's suit.

Gunn took to his Instagram account to share the first look with the caption, "Get ready. Superman. 7.11.25." Check out the image below.

As soon as the first look arrived, fans were quick to spot Corenswet's iconic red trunks. One fan wrote, "HE'S GOT THE TRUNKS!" Another one said, "Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed lol I turned my brightness all the way up and checked comments to see if anyone else noticed."

Before Corenswet, only three actors have starred as Superman in its nearly 50-year big screen career: Christopher Reeve (1978-87), Brandon Routh (2006) and Henry Cavill (2013-2022). Corenswet is best known for his roles in Ryan Murphy's shows such as The Politician and Hollywood.

Talking about exactly what he was looking for his Clark Kent, James Gunn earlier told Variety, "The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he's also an alien. It's gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug."

Last year, while speaking to Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav spoke highly of Gunn's Superman film and hoped that the film would make a significant profit for all stakeholders. Zaslav said, "We got James Gunn and Peter Safran working very hard on DC, which is going to be a very big growth driver for this company. We are very bullish on DC. The Superman script first draft is done. Gunn is on a mission from god. It is a really good moment to prove out on DC what we got and how strong it is globally for long-term sustainable growth."
