Karan Johar recently called out comedian Kettan Singh for poor enactment of the filmmaker in a reputed show. He expressed his dismay with a note on his Instagram story. Karan talked about the disrespect from the industry. He recounted the experience while he was watching the promo of the show with his mother.

Karan wrote, "I was sitting and watching television with my mom...and saw a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly respectable channel...a comic was mimicking me in exceptionally poor taste...I expect this from trolls and faceless and nameless people but when your own industry can disrespect someone who has been in the business for over 25 years it speaks volumes about the times we live in... this doesn't even anger me it just makes me sad!"

Ektaa Kapoor also came out in support of Karan and called out such comedians and their 'ugly humour'.

"Happened so many times! Ugly humour is sometimes on shows and even at award functions. And then they expect you to attend. Karan, please ask them to imitate one movie or classic of yours," she wrote.

The comedy show referred to by the director was 'Madness Machayenge - India Ko Hasayenge'. It aired its 'Bollywood Meri Jaan' special episode over the weekends. Kettan Singh's portrayal of Karan Johar upset the director.

Following Johar's statement, comedian Kettan Singh reacted to the same and apologised to the director. He explained that his impersonation of Johar was inspired by watching him on talk shows and being a fan of his work. The comedian also expressed his admiration for the director's work in Indian cinema.

"I would like to apologise to Karan (Johar) sir. First of all, whatever impersonation I do, because I watch a lot of Karan Johar on the coffee show, I am a fan of his work. I have seen his latest film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani 5 to 6 times. I am a huge fan of his work and his show. If my actions hurt him, I would like to apologise to him. My intention was not to hurt him. I just wanted to entertain the audience but if I did something extra, I would like to say sorry to him," Kettan said.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar's last film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' was a commercial hit. He is currently producing an array of films. On the other hand, Karan Johar's film with Salman Khan, titled 'The Bull' is all set to go on floors in 2025.
