New Delhi: To generate sympathy from the arrest of party chief

Arvind Kejriwal

,

AAP

on Thursday launched its Lok Sabha

campaign song

titled "Jail ke Jawab Mein Hum Vote Denge".

Penned and sung in a rap style by Timarpur MLA Dilip Pandey, party functionaries said the over two-minute-long campaign song reflects the mood of the common people and the reality of what is happening in these times.

Delhi BJP

chief Virendra Sachdeva, however, said the public will not support AAP, no matter how many pamphlets it distributes or songs it plays.

AAP's Lok Sabha campaign has a similar theme, titled "Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se", which revolves around the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal is lodged in Tihar. The party claims the case against him is "fabricated".

Speaking at the song launch, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh called upon workers to work hard to convert the "anger" of the people over Kejriwal's arrest into votes. "Whatever programmes were held in this courtyard, whether it was a demonstration, movement or preparation related to the election, we could see him during that time. He stood firmly with the party workers, Delhiites and worked together with them raising his voice," Singh said at the launch organised at the AAP headquarters.

"Our campaign song reflects the feelings of the people. The things mentioned in the title of this song are the reality of society. Exactly this is happening under the misrule of the BJP. Those who opposed the BJP were put in

jail

," Pandey said.

The AAP functionary added that those who raised their voice against BJP were arrested and those who gave money to the party were acquitted. "The BJP has sold everything, including Coal India, ONGC. Sports grounds are being auctioned. The BJP is against Baba Saheb's Constitution ," Pandey said.

With notification for the sixth phase that covers Delhi too to be issued on April 29, AAP said its candidates will file the nomination papers early to ensure any discrepancy in documents is corrected on time. "We don't want to take the risk of filing papers late. We will file 2-3 sets of nomination papers to ensure the election officials do not reject it for any minor mistake," one of the candidates said. The last date for filing nominations is May 6.
