If you closely follow influencers on social media, or tried becoming one yourself, you would know how challenging it gets after a point of time. After all, content creation is a complex task and requires immense dedication as well as consistency. There are millions of influencers across the globe (64 million as per a TrendHero report last year) and the competition in the field is extremely high. But, what if we tell you that a Spanish influencer, who doesn't even exist in reality, is making around Rs 9 lakh per month? Sounds like an episode straight out of Black Mirror, right?

Meet Aitana, a Spanish influencer in her mid-twenties who is a "gamer at heart and a fitness lover" as per her Instagram bio. The AI-influencer has over 3 lakh followers and is often seen advertising for various brands. Many of her posts appear to be paid promotions, suggesting brands are interested in getting themselves marketed by her.

According to a report in Euronews, Aitana earns up to 10,000 Euros (roughly Rs 9 lakh) per month. She was created by Ruben Cruz, founder of an agency called The Clueless.

Even though Aitana is making thousands of Euros now, she was created under challenging circumstances. In an interview with Euronews, the AI influencer's creator said that many of their projects were getting cancelled or put on hold due to problems that were "beyond their control."

"Often it was the fault of the influencer or model and not due to design issues," he told the publication. Hence, the creators decided to create their own model to work with brands that had been approaching them

During the interview, Cruz also highlighted how brands have approached his agency for creating their own personalised AI models.

"They want to have an image that is not a real person and that represents their brand values, so that there are no continuity problems if they have to fire someone or can no longer count on them," he said.

The question of AI replacing human beings in their workplaces has often been debated and while many people believe that AI will eliminate many jobs, others think that they can coexist. While we are yet to see if Instagram or other social media sites will be dominated by AI-generated influencers, creations like Aitana suggest that it could happen soon.
