NASA has announced five asteroids will make close approaches to Earth in two days. While none pose an immediate threat, these celestial flybys serve as a reminder of the importance of monitoring near-Earth objects.

Asteroid 2024 GM1

​The Asteroid GM 1 is set to swing by Earth at a distance of approximately 1,330,000 kilometres. This asteroid is about 84 feet wide, roughly the size of a standard Airplane. It is travelling at a speed of 37,287 kilometres per hour.

Asteroid 2024 GF 5

Asteroid 2024 GF 5, will be passing by at a slightly greater distance of 3,700,000 kilometres from Earth. This asteroid is about 39 feet wide, roughly the size of a standard Bus. It is travelling at a speed of 26,485 kilometres per hour.

Asteroid 2024 GJ 6

This bus-sized asteroid, measuring 27 feet wide, travelling at a speed of 29,037 kilometres per hour and passing by at a safe distance of 975,000 kilometres from Earth.

Asteroid 2024 GA 6

This larger object, categorised as bus-sized is 37 feet wide, travelling at a speed of 25,243 kilometres per hour and passing by at a safe distance of 1,030,000 kilometres from Earth.

Asteroid 2024 FF 4

The final visitor, another airplane-sized asteroid is 160 feet wide. It will travel at a speed of 46,900 kilometres per hour and make its closest approach at a comfortable distance of 6,170,000 kilometres from Earth.
