is likely to meet

party cadres

Amethi

district over the weekend, sources said. Party leaders though denied the rumours doing rounds at the UP-Congress office on Friday.

"Rahul is set to take a final call on his candidature from Amethi and therefore he has called some of his trusted people from there. The

meeting

is expected on April 28-29," claimed an elderly worker.

The talks are significant considering that the grand old party is likely to announce names of the candidates from high profile Amethi and Rae Bareli anytime soon.

It is believed that till now, the names had been held in wake of the elections in Wayanad that concluded on Friday. The Congress central election committee is likely to meet on Saturday.

Meanwhile,

Congress leader

from Amethi and former MLC Deepak Singh said that there is no specific meeting as such. "Rahul Gandhi has a personal connection with people in Amethi and they can meet him any time they want. Such meetings keep happening regularly," he said.
