This is the highest-selling smartphone of 2024, claims report

In 2024, we have seen multiple smartphones being launched from top brands. Global smartphone shipments have also seen a 6% jump. As expected, the top smartphone brands put up a good performance, with Apple and Samsung smartphones dominating the market with the highest sales.

However, according to a new report by Counterpoint Research, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max has emerged as the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2024. Notably, this is the first time any Pro Max iPhone has achieved the top position in a non-seasonal quarter.

All four iPhone 15 models and the iPhone 14 are in the top 10 list, with the remaining smartphones coming from Samsung's A and Series. The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max's increasing popularity was demonstrated by the fact that in Q1 2024, it accounted for half of Apple's total sales.

It is a sharp rise from 24% in Q1 2020 when the base iPhone models were more popular. With the Pro iPhones accounting for more than 60% of Apple's sales value in Q1 2024, they have emerged as the biggest revenue generators for Apple in 2024.

The increased sales of the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max show that most smartphone consumers now prefer premium features such as a telephoto camera, innovative dynamic island, and ultra-smooth ProMotion 120Hz display. With the iPhone 15 Pro series, Apple also introduced aerospace‑grade titanium design in its chassis.

Due to the little feature differentiation offered by previous-generation smartphones, consumers are reluctant to newer-generation smartphones. Therefore, most smartphone buyers choose to buy premium smartphones to ensure their devices are relevant for years.
