PM Sharif, CJ Isa to discuss ISI's judicial interference in Pakistan

New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold a meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faiz Isa today, on the matter related to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judges' letter to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), as reported by ARY News.

In the wake of the Islamabad High Court's letter to the Supreme Judicial Council regarding the alleged interference of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) with the country's judicial system, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with the Chief Justice of Pakistan. According to reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold a meeting with Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa at 2 pm on the premises of the Supreme Court today.

The meeting will also include Law Minister Nazir Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan. The call to hold a meeting with the Chief Justice has been issued by the Islamabad High Court. The Islamabad High Court judges had sent a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council in this regard. According to the letter, 7 out of 8 judges of the Islamabad High Court have written their opinion and sent a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council in this regard.

According to the letter sent by the Islamabad High Court judges to the Supreme Judicial Council, the ISI has been influencing the judicial proceedings and pressuring the judges. The letter further states that the ISI officials have been using various tactics to interfere in the judicial system.

The letter was signed by all the judges of the Islamabad High Court except the Chief Justice. According to reports, the Supreme Court held a full court meeting on Wednesday to discuss the letter. In this meeting, all the senior judges of the Supreme Court were present.
