The console war has always been heated over the games that are unavailable on either platform. Take the example of Starfield and Helldivers 2. This is a huge edge in the argument for Xbox gamers, as it's unavailable on Sony console, but it won't be the case for long.

The same goes for Helldivers 2 but the tables might turn soon. The popular live service title has garnered a huge fanbase, but as a PSN first-party title, Xbox gamers have been exempted from the game. However, according to a recent report, the co-op shooter might come to Microsoft's console.

Helldivers 2 May Be Coming to Xbox

Helldivers 2 right now is only available on PC and PS5.

In the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast, co-host Nick "Shpeshal Nick" Baker has claimed that there were "preliminary" talks about bringing Helldivers 2 to Series X|S consoles. Baker has also stated that talks are in "very early" stages. Baker said:

"It doesn't mean it's coming [for sure]. I just said there's very early discussions about it. It could all fall to pieces. . . They might not come to an agreement or something."

Basically, there is no confirmation; everything is right now a rumor. So, he himself is not sure if the game is coming to Series X|S or not. Unlike Sony, Microsoft is seemingly more interested in getting their first-party titles cross-platform.

And it comes out to be a great decision because Sea of Thieves, the Xbox first-party title, went on to hold the no. 1 position in the list of most pre-sales in the PSN store. Along with this title, other exclusive titles like Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiments, and many more have made their way onto their arch-rival platform.

However, Sony hasn't yet shown any real sign of making their games cross-platform, except MLB The Show, which is a PSN exclusive, is right now available on Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Hiroki Totoki Has Some Ideas Regarding Cross-Platform Titles

With the promising words mindset from the PSN CEO, there are hopes for exclusive titles going third-party.

According to Baker, the new interim PSN CEO, Hiroki Totoki, maybe "a little more open" to experimenting with "certain things" in terms of multiplatform titles, unlike the previous CEO, Jim Ryan.

During a recent financial call, Totoki expressed his views about first-party titles growing on other platforms. He stated that the company wants to make its first-party titles multiplatform, but there is a synergy to it.

He thinks first-party content can be grown on other platforms as well, and it will eventually help the company's profit. As a live-service title, Helldivers 2 will receive a huge surge in player count if it comes to Microsoft consoles and will surely be a bigger success than it is right on PS5 and PC.

Live service titles always thrive in a healthy community, and the more platforms the game can acquire, the more it is beneficial for the game to prosper. Now, it is up to Sony how they shape up things in the future for the fans of the game.
