Galaxy Z Flip 6's first benchmark reveals juicy info

Samsung is going to launch its next set of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6, in early July this year. The production of these devices is in full swing, and the company has now started benchmarking them.

A Galaxy Z Flip 6 benchmark appeared on the Geekbench website this week, revealing some key features of the upcoming phone. According to the benchmark, Samsung's upcoming clamshell foldable smartphone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which isn't surprising.

The benchmark unit had 8GB of RAM accompanying the Snapdragon chip, but based on rumors and the fact that even Samsung's new mid-range phones have 12GB of RAM, we can expect the Z Flip 6 to come in a 12GB RAM variant as well. The software version, as expected, is Android 14, and the new foldables will likely come with One UI 6.1.1.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 performance similar to that of the Galaxy S24 Ultra

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 managed to score 15,050 points on the GPU test, which is similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Z Fold 6 is more compact, and if we assume that it doesn't have the large cooling system found in the Galaxy S24 series phones, its performance score is rather impressive. However, a lack of a larger cooling system will also mean that the Z Flip 6 will throttle much faster when it's pushed to its limit for a prolonged period.

According to a previous reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will feature a larger cover display than that on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the cover display could have a 120Hz refresh rate instead of a 60Hz refresh rate. The Z Flip 6 may even use an Exynos chip in some markets if one rumor is to be believed, though we're keeping our fingers crossed that won't be the case and everyone will get the fantastic Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip no matter where they buy the phone.
