KK Senthil Kumar

is a well-known

cinematographer

and is known for his work alongside world-renowned director SS Rajamouli. He has also worked with Rajamouli on blockbuster films like '

Baahubali

' and 'RRR', and revealed that his most challenging project to date remains the 2012 Telugu fantasy drama '

Eega

'. Directed by

SS Rajamouli

, the film featured a fly as its protagonist, presenting the challenges facing Senthil Kumar.

According to an interview with Film Companion, despite his extensive experience,

Senthil Kumar

admitted that 'Eega' posed exceptional hurdles due to its unconventional storyline and protagonist. He emphasized that the lack of reference points made, never seen before in cinematography, made the shooting of the film more demanding than even big-budget projects like 'RRR'. The cinematographer explained how the team conducted detailed research and observation to bring the fly character to life, and creating the hero of the film, which was a fly, was the biggest challenge.

In the film, the protagonist, played by Nani, is killed by antagonist Sudeep and later reincarnated as a fly seeking revenge. Senthil Kumar emphasized the demanding process of studying real flies, which included analyzing their behavior through macro photography. The team then worked with artists to create a special flyer for the film. While researching flies, he also mentioned how they get unconscious when exposed to cold temperatures for a minute or two, then gain consciousness and fly away. This attention to detail and commitment to originality set 'Eega' apart from conventional filmmaking practices.

Speaking about the challenges, Senthil Kumar emphasized the need for originality and creativity in properly capturing the spirit of the story. He noted how the project pushed him to new heights of creativity, surpassing even his prior efforts like 'Baahubali' and 'Magadheera'.

During an interview with Rediff.com, Senthil Kumar shed light on the remarkable dedication required to bring unconventional stories to the silver screen. They had to do

photo sessions

with the

housefly

after getting it unconscious, taking its macro pictures, and then pre-visualization was done by the computer graphics team before the shoot.
