Kentucky appeared to make a run at Johnell Davis, but he's headed to another SEC school.

Late Tuesday night, news broke that the FAU star was committing to John Calipari University, also now known as the Arkansas Razorbacks, per Jeff Goodman.

That is, assuming Davis pulls out of the NBA Draft, which isn't exactly a lock at this time.

According to multiple NBA executives, Johnell Davis probably realistically playing for a 2-way contract if he remains in the NBA Draft. https://t.co/G7bG3bwKX7

This past season, the 6-foot-4, 203-pound Davis averaged 18.2 points on 48.3% shooting (41.7% from 3-point range), 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest.

In the 2022-23 season, Davis led the Owls to a magical Final Four run before bowing out to Lamont Butler and San Diego State in the National Semifinal. That year saw Davis average 13.8 points on 48.6% shooting (35.7% from 3-point land), 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest.

Make no mistake about it: This is a massive get for Calipari and Arkansas that will ensure the Hogs are a force to be reckoned with next year.

It also just made the Kentucky - Arkansas battles even more tantalizing next season since we'll almost certainly get multiple Final Four rematches between Butler and Davis.

Let's ball.

John Calipari to top-5 prospect Caleb Wilson:

"Coach Calipari came to my school a week ago and that is when I got the offer. He tells me it's like Calipari University. He's just moving homes." https://t.co/8ae1woxyky
