Giants Reacts Survey: Did the Giants come away from the 2024 draft as "winners"?

As you may have noticed, the 2024 NFL Draft is (finally) in the rearview mirror. The New York Giants made six selections over the course of the weekend. They added to their offense with wide receiver Malik Nabers, tight end Theo Johnson and running back Tyrone Tracy, as well as their defense with safety Tyler Nubin, slot cornerback Dru Phillips, and linebacker/special teamer Darius Muasau.

But now the question at hand is whether or not the Giants came out of the draft as "winners".

Silly question, right?

After all, most evaluators have graded their draft favorably, and they've effectively reinforced multiple positions of need.

The Giants' offense might be missing Saquon Barkley, but Tyrone Tracy has impressive upside and the wide receiver room was already pretty insultingly underrated before adding Nabers.

The Giants also plugged a major hole at safety and gave themselves options and flexibility to replace Adoree' Jackson at cornerback.

Their offense should be more explosive, if only because they're shifting emphasis from the running game to the passing game. It would also make life easer for the defense if their own offense can put pressure on the opposing offense.

So why wouldn't the Giants be considered "winners" after the draft?

The two things the Giants didn't do: Add to their offensive line and address the quarterback position.

The Giants have to hope that the additions of Jon Runyan Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor, as well as development from Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz under Carmin Bricillo will allow the line to take a leap.

The Giants are also now tied to Daniel Jones at quarterback for 2024. Jones will be the starter unless the Giants hold a true quarterback competition in camp and he's beaten out by Drew Lock. And until that happens, we should probably assume that Jones will be the starter. Unless Nabers allows the Giants to fundamentally change how they play football, the offense will likely be similar to what we've seen over the past several years. Quick reads, short passes, and hoping the other team can shoot themselves in the foot just has not been good enough.

So, have the Giants done enough to be considered "winners"? Or are they treading water without making fundamental changes?
