NEED TO KNOW. HEY, MADISON. GOOD EVENING GUYS. YOU'RE GOING TO SEE A LOT OF SAFETY MEASURES BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE TRACK. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE SEE OUTSIDE THE TRACK FENCES LIKE THESE, MAKING SURE PEDESTRIANS AND THE ROAD ARE SEPARATED WHILE THEY'RE WALKING HERE ON THE SIDEWALK. THERE'S A GOOD DISTANCE BETWEEN THEM AND OTHER CARS, BUT THE CITY TODAY ALSO LAID OUT THEIR OTHER PLANS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY IS GOING TO BE SAFE DURING DERBY. 150 AND THEN CRISSCROSS, AND IT'S ALL HANDS ON DECK AS THE CITY AND FIRST RESPONDERS PREPARE FOR DERBY. 150 ON MONDAY, LOUISVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT RECRUITS LOADED A BUS WITH AROUND 50 BREATHING APPARATUS IS JUST SOME OF THE EXTRA EQUIPMENT THE LMPD IS PULLING TOGETHER TO SUPPORT EXTRA STAFF AT CHURCHILL DOWNS. ALL IN ALL, WE ALMOST STAFF CLOSE TO AN EXTRA SECOND ALARM COMPANY AT THE TRACK, SO THEY'RE ALREADY IN PLACE, READY TO GO IF SOMETHING WAS TO GO WRONG AT THE EVENT ON TUESDAY, CITY LEADERS SAY THEY'RE READY FOR CALLS BOTH AT THE TRACK AND OUTSIDE OF IT. THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE IS READY TO WELCOME THE WORLD, AND BECAUSE OF THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EXPECTED AT DERBY FEDERAL AGENCIES WILL BE ON SITE ASSISTING LOCAL AND STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT. THERE WILL ALSO BE A SECURITY OPERATIONS CENTER. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF EMERGENCY SERVICES SAYS THIS MEANS EXTRA DRONE DETECTION SYSTEMS, SWAT TEAMS AND MORE. IT ADDS TO THE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE ON SITE SO THEY CAN SPREAD OUT A LITTLE BIT MORE THROUGH THE VENUE. THEY ALSO UPDATED PEOPLE ON ROAD AND INTERSTATE CLOSURES. STARTING THURSDAY, THERE WILL BE DAILY RAMP CLOSURES OFF INTERSTATE 65 SOUTH AT CRITTENDEN DRIVE. THERE WILL ALSO BE NIGHTLY RAMP CLOSURES ON THE WATTERSON EXPRESSWAY EAST AND WEST AT SOUTHERN PARKWAY AND TAYLOR BOULEVARD FOR FOR FRONT SIDE TICKET HOLDERS, THERE IS FREE PARKING AT THE EXPO CENTER WITH A FREE SHUTTLE FOR INFIELD TICKETS. THE BEST PLACE TO PARK WILL BE AT L AND N FEDERAL CREDIT STADIUM FOR A FREE RIDE. SHARE WILL BE IN THE BRONZE LOT. THERE, AND OFFICIALS ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO HELP THEM. Bag policyEach guest is permitted one bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12". Baby bags and diaper bags are permitted if accompanied by a child. (Active from Saturday, April 27th, 2024 through Derby Day) RestrictionsAlcohol, backpacks/duffels, cameras with detachable lenses, tents and canopies, cans/glass bottles, coolers, drones, fireworks, drugs, personal music players without headphones, pets, selfie sticks, umbrellas, wagons, weapons and more. On Thurby-Derby, boxed lunches or good in clear plastic bags or containers that do not exceed the maximum size (12" X 6" X 12"). Boxed lunches or food items must fit in the guest's bag or one-gallon clear Ziploc-style storage bag, no trash bags. Guests are restricted to one bag only.On all days, bottled water in a sealed, clear bottle is permitted but limited to two 24 oz. bottles per person. At the Infield gate, you can have collapsible camping chairs, tarps and picnic blankets smaller than 10' x 10'. People are encouraged to take advantage of free parking at the KY Expo Center.

For front side ticket holders, there is a free shuttle from expo center which has free parking.

For infield ticket holders for Oaks and Derby, the best place to park will be at L&N Federal Credit Stadium in the purple lot which is a charged. Cars are $40, cash or card, and you pay the day of the event.

Rideshare will be at the stadium in the bronze lot.
