Arne Slot shares two-word Mohamed Salah verdict and thoughts on Liverpool win

While Liverpool was getting back to winning ways against Tottenham on Sunday, just under 520 miles away in Rotterdam, there was one particularly interested viewer.

The Reds put a difficult April behind them as they returned to winning ways at Anfield. Goals from Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott set up a 4-2 victory as Liverpool rediscovered some of the form that took it so far in this season's title race.

Jürgen Klopp's side is still strictly speaking in the hunt, although the likelihood of Arsenal and Manchester City opening the door to the Reds now is slim to say the least. Nevertheless, with a third-place finish now guaranteed in the Premier League, Liverpool can play with a little freedom in its two remaining games this season.

And it seems the club's next manager will be keeping a close eye on them. Arne Slot may have had his own game to think about on Sunday, but that didn't stop him tuning in to catch the Reds in action.

The Feyenoord boss is expected to succeed Klopp at Anfield and, before his current side's 5-0 win over PEC Zwolle, he found the time to watch some of his new team's performance, and even got to see Salah open the scoring against Spurs.

"I saw a few minutes of the game but we had to come to the stadium," Slot said (via The Athletic). "Just the first goal, a great goal.

"It was a good win from Liverpool. If the official confirmation is there, and I go there, I will watch a lot of games from them."

It looks to be just a matter of time now before Slot is confirmed as Liverpool's next boss. The man himself all but confirmed his appointment yesterday.

"Sometimes in life, opportunities come along and you have to listen. I have made that choice for myself. In the next days and weeks, you will see the announcement."

Liverpool.com says: Slot's clearly doing his homework, even when he has his own game to think about! The good news for him is Liverpool plays on Monday next week at Aston Villa, so he'll get the chance to watch the whole game this time. In fact, there might even be an opportunity for him to head to Villa Park to watch them in person. Keep your eyes peeled for the Dutchman next week…
