Egypt hosts 420,000 registered refugees and asylum-seekers from 59 countries. Sudanese are now the largest group. Most refugees live in urban areas of Cairo and the North Coast. UNHCR's response to the Gaza situation supports the Egyptian Red Crescent channel much-needed aid into the territory and facilitates medical evacuations into Egypt. Some 338,374 people forced to flee the Sudan crisis have entered Egypt since mid-April. UNHCR is scaling up the delivery of cash assistance and registration to address the most urgent needs of the most vulnerable.
