The US space agency NASA frequently shares stunning 'Astronomy Pictures of the Day'. Here are some of them featuring nebulae.

This gorgeous composite image of the rings formed around the Ring Nebula or M57, was obtained from data combined from Hubble, Large Binocular and Subaru Telescopes.

This striking image is of the Great Carina Nebula, NGC 3372. It is one of our Galaxy's largest star-forming regions, spanning 300 light-years.

This spectacular image is of the California Nebula, also known as NGC 1499. It is around 100 light-years long and shows red hydrogen gas glowing in the nebula.

This astounding image is of a large emission nebula, the Heart Nebula. It shows silicon, oxygen and hydrogen glowing in different colours with dust and forming a heart-shaped pattern.

This surreal image is of the Witch Head Nebula, known for resembling a Halloween-style caricature of a witch's head. It shows the intense blue starlight glowing with dust and gasses such as nitrogen and hydrogen.

Here's a beautiful image of the Iris Nebula, located 1,300 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Cepheus.

This splendid image is of the Pistachio Nebula, glowing with oxygen in blue and hydrogen gas in red. This image is a composite of over 70 hours of exposure, taken under the dark skies of Namibia.

This dreamy image is of the Prawn Nebula or IC 4628, in the constellation Scorpius. The swirling colours of gasses glowing in the nebula was captured from Rio Hurtado, Chile.

This stunning image shows one of the largest nebulas in the sky, the Great Lacerta Nebula. It is roughly the same size as the Andromeda Galaxy and is found in the constellation of Lacerta.
