Randy Travis is a country music legend.

There's no denying that, but younger fans of the genre might not be overly familiar with him. And that's because it has been a while since the 65-year-old has put out music. There's good reason for that, of course.

Travis suffered a massive stroke in 2013.

At the time, per CBS News, he was given just a 2% chance to live. Randy kept on kicking, but the stroke hit the part of his brain that controls speech and language hardest, according to that CBS report. And so, it looked like his singing days were over.

That changed this past week as Travis released a new song, "Where That Came From."

How did he pull it off?

Well, that has folks talking. Because Travis and his team used AI to help put the song together. It was a process that included a surrogate singer, James DuPre, who did the vocal tracks. Travis' producers then used AI software to take 42 of his vocal-isolated recordings and turn them into the song.

And, well … it certainly sounds just like Randy Travis singing the song.

He is currently working on another.
