Running back Rashaad Penny is signing with the Panthers, reports Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The former first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks will reunite with Carolina head coach Dave Canales.

Penny spent 2023 with the Eagles but appeared in just three games for Philadelphia and was a healthy scratch for the remainder of the season. He finished the year with 11 carries for 33 yards and one catch for five yards.

When the Eagles signed Penny last offseason, he was considered to be a potential starter. But the Eagles acquired D'Andre Swift from the Lions, and he emerged as the premier player at the running back position.

The Seahawks selected Penny with the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with Seattle, during which he rushed 337 times for 1,918 yards and 13 touchdowns.
