BOSTON (WPRI) — More than 100 protestors from an encampment at Northeastern University's Boston campus that was protesting the situation in Gaza were arrested Saturday.

Northeastern University Police (NUPD), with help from Boston Police and Massachusetts State Police (MSP), cleared the encampment, which was taking place on Centennial Commons.

"What began as a student demonstration two days ago, was infiltrated by professional organizers with no affiliation to Northeastern," a statement from Northeastern read. "Last night, the use of violent antisemitic slurs, including, 'Kill the Jews,' crossed the line. We cannot tolerate this kind of hate on our campus."

Dave Procopio, MSP's director of media communications, said in a statement that 102 protestors "who refused to comply with orders to disperse" were arrested and will face charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct by the NUPD.

In the MSP's statement, Procopio added, "The State Police are committed to protecting the lawful exercise of people's rights of assembly and free speech in a safe and secure manner, as well as to protecting safety and property all involved parties."

This is one of multiple colleges where these types of demonstrations have occurred. In Rhode Island, dozens of students are still at an encampment at Brown University, protesting the violence happening in Gaza.

Those arrested at the Northeastern demonstration are being booked and processed at the Suffolk County House of Correction.
