KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Three VFLs were selected during the 2024 NFL draft. Here's which teams Tennessee's star athletes will be playing for. Running Back Jaylen Wright was the first VFL to hear his name called during the draft. Selected by the Miami Dolphins during the fourth round, Wright was the 120th pick overall. According to the NFL, the Dolphins traded up to select Wright in the fourth round of the draft. In exchange, the Dolphins gave the Philadelphia Eagles its third-round pick during next year's draft. Wright spent his entire colligate career with Tennessee before he declared for the draft after his junior year. Last season, the Durham, North Carolina native averaged 7.39 yards per carry, the second highest in UT single-season history (minimum 100 attempts) behind Hank Lauricella's 7.94 record set during the 1951 season. During the 2023 season, Wright had 197 rushing attempts for 1,013 yards. He also recorded a broad jump of 11 feet, 2 inches at the NFL combine, the second longest in NFL combine history. Quarterback Joe Milton was the 193rd pick overall in the 2024 Draft, being selected by the New England Patriots. After transferring to Tennessee from Michigan in 2021, Milton played in 43 games, including 21 games where he started. In 2022, He led the Vols to their first Orange Bowl victory since 1939 and was named the Orange Bowl MVP. In total, Milton threw for more than 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns at UT, on top of 505 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. Cornerback Kamal Hadden was drafted in the sixth round by the Kansas City Chiefs as the 211th pick overall. Hadden played in 23 games, including 15 starts, during his three years at Tennessee. In his career, he made 87 career tackles, including 5.5 for loss, and six interceptions. In 2023, Hadden was one of the top cornerbacks in the SEC before he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. In his final 7 games, he did not allow a single touchdown catch in 2023 before he was injured. Eight VFL's were signed as undrafted free agents. Wide Receiver Ramel Keyton was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders, the Philadelphia Eagles picked up tight end McCallan Castles and TE Jacob Warren is headed to the Patriots, alongside his former quarterback in Joe Milton. Dee Williams and Aaron Beasley both signed with the Seattle Seahawks, while defensive back Jaylen McCullough was picked up by the Rams and Jeremiah Crawford is headed to the Carolina Panthers. Finally, Gabe Jeudy-Lally is staying here in Tennessee as he signed with the Titans. This story will be updated if more Tennessee Football players are selected during the 2024 NFL Draft.
