Zhao Leji Meets with Chilean President Gabriel Boric

On October 16, 2023, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met in Beijing with Chilean President Gabriel Boric.

Zhao Leji said that although China and Chile are far apart from each other, the two countries enjoy profound traditional friendship. The development of China-Chile friendship has always been firmly supported by the two governments and all sectors of society, and China-Chile relations have set a good example of solidarity and cooperation between developing countries. Chile is the first Latin American and Caribbean country to establish a legislative cooperation mechanism with China. The NPC of China is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the National Congress of Chile, implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, deepen friendly interactions and experience exchanges at all levels, provide legal guarantees for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries, and push the China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.

Gabriel Boric said that Chile admires China's great achievements and cherishes the sincere friendship between the two countries. Chile is ready to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation, deepen cooperation with China in various fields, intensify exchanges between legislative bodies, and work to achieve the leapfrog development of Chile-China relations.
