Pirates farm report for April 30, 2024: Nick Gonzales hits 3rd homer for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 13-12) defeated Buffalo (Blue Jays), 4-3 in 11 innings. RHP Paul Skenes (0.39) struck out seven, walked one and gave up four hits in six scoreless innings, his longest outing a professional. He has struck out 41 in 23 innings with Indy. DH Yasmani Grandal (.231) hit a walk-off single in the 11th as Indy survived striking out 18 times. 2B Nick Gonzales (.379) opened the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth, his third. He also walked and struck out twice. SS Liover Peguero (.301) hit an RBI triple and a single. 3B Malcom Nunez (.269) hit an RBI single and had a pair of strikeouts. Grandal and CF Ji Hwan Bae (.350) each struck out three times. RHP Ben Heller (0.00) and LHP Jose Hernandez (12.46) each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (6.23) gave up a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to tie the game. LHP Brady Feigl (2.25) struck out one in 1⅓ shutout innings and RHP Brent Honeywell (1-1, 5.68) struck out three in a scoreless 11th for the win.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 5-16) dropped a 3-2 decision to Harrisburg (Nationals). RHP Bubba Chandler (3.63) started and went 4⅓ innings, allowing three hits, including a solo home run, walked two and fanned four. RHP Justin Meis (5.93) also gave up a solo homer among five hits, walked one and struck out five. RHP Chris Gau (0-3, 3.00) went 1⅓ innings and allowed a game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on three hits. He struck out one. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.167) gave the Curve a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh with a two-run homer, his second. 3B Kervin Pichardo (.259) doubled, 1B Seth Beer (.298) walked and singled, CF Jase Bowen (.184) singled and struck out three times, and LF Tres Gonzales (.197) reached on a bunt single and had a pair of strikeouts.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 13-8) hit three home runs in a 9-2 win over Winston-Salem (White Sox). RF Charles McAdoo (.303) went 3 for 3 with a three-run home run and a solo shot, his third and fourth homers, slashed an RBI triple and walked. CF Sammy Siani (.309) crushed a solo homer, his third, singled and scored three runs. 2B Termarr Johnson (.194) went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles. Starting LHP Hunter Barco (2.33) went 4⅓ innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks and struck out six. RHP Jaycob Deese (1-1, 9.95) struck out one and gave up one hit in two-thirds of an inning for the win. RHP Derek Diamond (0.00) gave up three hits and struck out two in three scoreless relief innings and LHP Julian Bosnic (2.70) threw a scoreless ninth.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 5-17) beat Fort Myers (Twins), 7-3. RHP Carlos Jimenez (3.72) struck out seven, walked three and yielded one hit in three innings. LHP Yoldin De La Paz (3-0, 1.32) struck out one in two scoreless innings for the win. RHP Elijah Birdsong (1.69) allowed one run on two hits, walked one and struck out one. RHP Landon Tomkins (3.46) went one inning and gave up two runs (one unearned) on three hits and struck out two. LHP Hunter Furtado (7.59) struck out two and allowed no walks or hits in a scoreless ninth. 3B Garret Forrester (.270) hit his first home run of the year, singled twice, walked and drove in two runs. 1B Esmerlyn Valdez (.265) hit an RBI double and singled. 2B Kalae Harrison (.167) hit his first homer of the year and walked. LF Shain Polanco (.149) hit a three-run home run, his second. RF Joshua Palacios (.333) went 1 for 3, doubled, struck out once and scored a run on his rehab assignment from Triple-A Indianapolis.
