Aston Martin Vanquish All But Confirmed With A New 824 HP Twin-Turbo V12

Aston Martin announced a heavily updated and significantly more powerful version of its signature V12 engine that will be introduced in its new flagship model before finding its way to the brand's "most exclusive and limited availability models". The official teaser all but confirms that the successor of the DBS will use the Vanquish moniker, with the new V12 producing as much as 824 hp.

In a short video titled "Dawn of a new V12 era", Aston Martin introduces us to its latest powertrain, while revealing preliminary details together with its glorious sound. Furthermore, the "all will be vanquished" phrase at the end of the teaser gives us a clear hint about the name of the first model to wear the new engine.

Thanks to a "complete redesign", the twin-turbo V12 is good for 824 hp (614 kW / 835 PS) and 1,000 Nm (737.6 lb-ft) of torque. Those figures represent a healthy increase compared to the 760 hp (566 kW / 770 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of the V12-powered DBS 770 Ultimate which was the swan song of the outgoing model.

In order to improve on the successful twelve-cylinder recipe, Aston Martin engineers "refined every stage of the internal combustion process", with the hardware improvements resulting in "unprecedented performance and efficiency". More specifically, the new V12 features strengthened cylinder block and conrods, redesigned cylinder heads with reprofiled camshafts, as well as new intake and exhaust ports. The mill also benefits from repositioned spark plugs and higher flowrate fuel injectors, plus a pair of higher-speed and reduced-inertia turbochargers.

The first model to feature the new twin-turbo V12 will be the successor of the DBS which will most likely adopt the Vanquish moniker. Aston Martin all but confirmed the rumors about the return of the popular nameplate which has been used for flagship models in the past and recently adorned a now-cancelled mid-engined supercar project.

Our spy photographers have already spotted camouflaged prototypes of the new Vanquish testing out in the open. The redesigned bodywork bears similarities to the mechanically-related Aston Martin DB12, while looking sexier than the outgoing DBS. Aston Martin said that the new flagship will debut later in 2024 without getting into details. However, recent reports suggest that the unveiling could take place this August, during the Monterey Car Week in California.

Besides the new Vanquish, the handcrafted twin-turbo V12 will also find its way under the hood of Aston Martin's "most exclusive and limited availability models". This description hints at more special projects like the sold-out Valour, DBR22, and V12 Speedster from the recent past.
