Tempers flared and fists flew on the diamond during a bench-clearing altercation between the Rays and Brewers on Tuesday night, and MLB handed down fines and suspensions to the players involved.

Milwaukee reliever Abner Uribe was given the biggest punishment of six games for throwing a punch during the scuffle, while Brewers starter Freddy Peralta was suspended five games.

Rays outfielder Jose Siri was suspended three games for his role in facilitating the brawl in which he was jawing back and forth with Uribe, who would land a hard right hook on Siri that sent his head whiplashing back.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy was also banned for two games.

All four were also fined, and the suspensions can be appealed.

However, Milwaukee first baseman Rhys Hoskins was not fined or suspended after he attempted to break up the fight between Uribe and Siri.

The brawl transpired during the eighth inning in an 8-2 ball game where Siri had just grounded out before he whiffed on a punch headed for Uribe.

This came after Siri had previously showboated a long solo home run, which Peralta took exception to in the sixth inning, drilling him and getting ejected.

The Rays outfielder said he saw a possible fight coming a mile away during eighth-inning warmups.

"When I was in the on-deck circle and he was warming up I felt like he kept looking over at me and staring at me, so I just had that feeling," Siri said. "Obviously, when I went to first base, I confirmed that he had a problem with me."

Siri also mentioned that he "never really had a problem with Peralta," and after he was hit in the third inning by a talented right-hander, he "just went to first base."

The status of the Brewers pitchers for the rest of the week is up in the air, as both Uribe and Peralta are planning to appeal the suspension.
