Update: The PlayStation Plus May 2024 games for PS5 and PS4 are available now — Tuesday, May 6, 2024 — though rollouts in your region may vary. The games this month are EA Sports FC 24, Tunic, Ghostrunner II, and Destiny 2 Lightfall.

The PlayStation Plus May 2024 has been revealed for PS5 and PS4 and it includes a bumper four games! With EA Sports FC 24 headlining Sony's subscription service at the Essential tier, what else has been added?

PS Plus May 2024 games for PS5 and PS4

The PS Plus Essential monthly games lineup has four games across PS5 and PS4 in a bumper month for the tier. For the PlayStation Plus May 2024 games, the official reveal on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, followed by the games' release to everyone on Tuesday, May 6, 2024.

The four PS Plus Essential games are EA Sports FC 24, Tunic, Ghostrunner II, and Destiny 2 Lightfall. You will also be getting an EA Sports FC 24 Ultimate Team Starter Pack on the PS Store and football-sim will be available longer than the rest, until Monday, June 17, 2024.

Here is the full PS Plus May 2024 lineup.

EA Sports FC 24

Here is my prescribed description of EA Sports FC 24 for you: football. That's all you need, dear reader. Around spring and summertime, PS Plus Essential starts getting the sports games and FIFA 22 once made the cut, making this a continuation of the cycle. EA will want to get this rebrand of its premier franchise into as many players' hands before the inevitable EA Sports FC 25.

The card-collecting insanity of Ultimate Team is currently having a Team of the Season event. So, naturally, you'll also be getting a big old PS Plus starter pack to lure you in. I can't say much mind, I've been hopelessly obsessed for years now and am building the sickest Arsenal and RB Leipzig hybrid team you've ever seen. See you online!

Tunic

Some indie games feel destined for a PS Plus release and the fact we haven't had Tunic on PS Plus Essential yet is wild. It's a wonderful indie and, having once talked to developer Andrew Shouldice, I can tell you the man behind the game is just as wonderful. That lovely quality shines through in its clear Zelda influences of old and the caring obscurity of some of its secrets. It's well worth your time!

Ghostrunner II

So, Ghostrunner 2 occupies a spot on the lineup this month! This is a nice get for the service, but be prepared for just how hard the fast-paced gameplay can get. With the cyberpunk trappings it'd be easy to say, "Hey, that's enough for me!" Sure enough, it's ready to beat that out for you with wall jumping, shooting, and slicing with a katana quicker than you can say PS Plus.

Bonus: Destiny 2 Lightfall

Bungie is currently gearing up for the big send-off to Destiny 2 in the upcoming expansion The Final Shape. Well, it's gearing up the many, many players who got into the franchise through PS Plus freebies over the years with the latest expansion in Lightfall. Added as a bonus this month, we won't hide it from you — Lightfall was badly received when it launched. A few patches have helped, but everything hinges on The Final Shape!

Those are our PS Plus Essential games for May 2024. Would any of these games make it onto our best PlayStation Plus games list? You simply must let us know what you think in the comments below!
