Video: Ukraine's 'Harry Potter castle' on fire after Russian airstrike

A Ukrainian building nicknamed the 'Harry Potter castle' was destroyed after a Russian missile struck the popular local landmark in the country's port city of Odesa. At least four people were also killed in the attack.

At least five people were killed after a Russian missile struck a Ukrainian building popularly known as 'Harry Potter castle' in the southern port city of Odesa on Monday.

According to a report by the news portal The Independent, the picturesque local landmark, built in Gothic style, was serving as a private law institute.

A video after the missile attack showed the turreted building of the institution burning in flames after the missile attack.

In one of the biggest attacks in weeks on Odesa, Russian forces fired missiles, drones and bombs at the city, damaging the educational institution located in a popular seafront area.

At least 32 people, including a pregnant woman and a four-year-old child, were injured and are in serious condition, regional governor Oleh Kiper said on Telegram.

According to the regional governor, Oleh Kiper, in addition to those killed in the attack, one man died after suffering a stroke attributed to the assault.

Ukrainian navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk, in a post on a military Telegram channel, said an Iskander-M ballistic missile with a cluster warhead was used in the strike. Those missiles are harder to intercept.

Russia has not issued a statement about the latest strike so far.

Odesa mayor Hennadii Trukhanov said Russia was "shooting and killing" people who were going for a walk by the sea.

"Monsters. Beasts. Savages. Scum. I don't know what else to say," he said.

The port city of Odesa has been a frequent target of Russian missile and drone attacks since the war in Ukraine began 25 months ago.
