Police are seeking witnesses as they hunt more members of an alleged violent carjacking group that grabbed vehicles in several incidents across the GTA using an SUV stolen from Brampton as a getaway car.

York Regional Police investigators made several arrests during a high-risk takedown of suspected carjackers last Saturday night (see video below).

An 18-year-old Toronto man and two younger teens, one from Toronto and the other from Ajax, were arrested and charged.

Robbery investigators said a getaway vehicle used in an April 6 incident (see video below), a white Acura SUV, was stolen from Brampton on April 1 and subsequently used "in armed carjackings across the Greater Toronto Area."

Police said the April 6 attempted carjacking unfolded in the early morning hours, at about 2 a.m., in a parking lot at Yonge Street and Glen Cameron Road in Markham.

"The victim was walking to her vehicle when a suspect approached and pulled her away," police said in a news release on Friday. "A second suspect then entered her vehicle. The victim struggled with the suspect and her husband joined in to assist."

During the struggle, the victim's SUV crashed into another vehicle as the masked culprits tried unsuccessfully to flee, police said.

The woman's husband tried to pull the culprit from her SUV. The would-be carjacker got out of the vehicle moments later and fled along with an accomplice to the waiting Acura, driven by a third suspect.

Police said the same stolen Acura was used in another carjacking the next day, April 7, in Toronto. In that incident, the culprits stole a BMW.

Six days later, on April 13, robbery investigators spotted the stolen Acura in a parking lot with three suspects inside.

After several vehicles collided during the takedown, several males tried to flee on foot, police said.

Arrests were made a short time later.

Poshur Williams, 18, of Toronto, and two male youths were charged with numerous firearm and property offences.

Investigators believe there might be other suspects linked to the carjackings.
