Presumed Innocent Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal Is Suspected of Murder Following a Steamy Affair — Watch

Original source (on modern site)

In Apple TV+'s upcoming limited series, Jake Gyllenhaal is Presumed Innocent until proven guilty.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow — which of course previously begat the 1990 Harrison Ford/Greta Scacchi/Bonnie Bedelia film — the eight-episode series covers a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney's office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. "The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together," reads its official description.

In the newly released trailer embedded above, we see flashes of a hot and steamy affair between Gyllenhaal's Sabich and a woman named Carolyn. We soon learn that Carolyn is the victim of the horrible crime, but is Sabich the guilty party?

Joining Gyllenhaal are Ruth Negga (Preacher), Bill Camp (The Queen's Gambit), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid's Tale), Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards), Nana Mensah (13 Reasons Why), Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World), Peter Sarsgaard (Dopesick), and relative newcomers Kingston Rumi Southwick and Chase Infiniti.

Presumed Innocent debuts on Apple TV+ Wednesday, June 12, with two episodes, followed by weekly releases.

David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers) serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Gyllenhaal, Dustin Thomason (Castle Rock) and J.J. Abrams.
