Music and food event takes place along International Avenue on May 25. Published May 02, 2024 • Last updated May 02, 2024 • 1 minute read East Town Get Down, Calgary's independent festival pairing music with authentic international food, has revealed its lineup of 40+ independent music acts spanning a variety of genres. The event, taking place May 25 on International Avenue (17th Avenue S.E.) from 5 p.m. to midnight, will feature Riley Downing, R.A.P. Ferreira, Pink Mountaintops and Post-Modern Connection as some of the notable performers. Calgary musicians make up more than half of the 47 scheduled musical acts, including Polaris Music Nominee Jairus Sharif and Sargeant X Comrade. Some of the cuisines planned for this year's festival include those from the Philippines, Ethiopia, South America and Vietnam. "It's a great opportunity for Calgarians to try some new foods, while hearing truly exciting new music. And I'm also glad that during these inflationary times, we've managed to keep the festival affordable with $5 food plates and $5 Village beer," said Alison Karim-McSwiney, a co-organizer of the event. This year's venues are Pacific Hut Filipino Restaurant, Paradise Lanes Bowling Alley, Bravo Restaurant, TG Juice Bar, Red Sea Ethiopian Restaurant, Border Crossing, Saigon Chef Vietnamese Restaurant, Kokonut Kove Pub, Maane's Bistro and Unity Park.
