'Cityline' to be reformatted into Breakfast Television - Broadcast Dialogue

Announced Tuesday morning via Instagram, host Tracy Moore revealed that this week's 40th anniversary episodes would be the show's last as Rogers Sports & Media moves to evolve the show. Beginning in September, it will be featured as a fifth live hour of Breakfast Television.

Moore, who is on board to host the new one-hour offering that will air from 10 - 11 a.m. starting this fall, said while difficult, change is necessary to adapt to changing consumer viewing habits.

"For the last decade the focus has shifted to new ways viewers consume content with phones in hand and an endless list of streaming providers. Our habits have changed. TV is seeing a major evolution," said Moore.

"I have been grappling with this as much as our viewers will grapple with this," Moore continued. "There is no other way to say it. This process has been difficult. Change often is. Do I love Cityline? Always and forever. Am I a little heartbroken? Absolutely. Am I excited for what we can make next? Yes, I am."

Moore revealed she'll be hanging out on Breakfast Television over the summer ahead of the launch.

Canada's longest running daytime show targeted to women, Cityline is taped in front of a live studio audience. The show was originally hosted by Dini Petty when it launched in 1984. Marilyn Denis succeeded her in 1989, helming the show until 2008 when Moore took over.
