An Aussie influencer has stunned followers by wearing an "inappropriate" dress to her friend's wedding event; some even said she was trying to "outshine the bride".

Isabelle Mathers posted photos to her 1.9 million followers on Instagram, showing off her ball gown dress with ruffled detailing.

The dress appeared to be cream and sheer, with Isabelle's dark underwear visible.

"This has got to be one of my favourite outfits I have ever worn, the detailing on the sleeves the top, it speaks for itself," she told TikTok.

Her ball gown also featured a large diamond size cut-out showing off the influencer's abs.

Isabelle seemed to steal the show when she was pictured next to the bride, who opted for a simple mini white dress for dinner.

The young influencer was not phased by the hate she received online and hit back at followers.

"The bride is my best friend. You don't think I discussed every single (one) of my outfits with her?" News.com reported Isabelle saying.

This did not deter people from sharing their opinions on the outfit.

"Beautiful dress! But white/cream to a wedding event?" one user said.

Another person said, "The dress is so inappropriate already, it looks too beachy plus the black underwear screams look at me, and it looks almost white in some lightings...."

"Inappropriate dress for a wedding. Period," an Instagram user concluded.

Other followers were less bothered by the outfit choice and assumed the bride had approved her outfit.

"being this perfect is illegal," Aussie social media star Ashton Wood wrote.

Influencer Emily Venz said: "A masterpiece."

Isabelle wore the controversial dress to the pre-wedding dinner and was seen wearing a light yellow bridesmaid dress for the ceremony.
