The Government's
Migration Strategy was released on 11 December 2023 and outlined a new vision for Australia's migration system. The Government has now put out a discussion paper on the review of the points test. This commitment was outlined in the
Migration Strategy - Action Plan to put out a discussion paper in early 2024 to explore a reformed points test to better identify migrants who will drive Australia's long term prosperity. The discussion paper outlines key challenges with the points test, suggests future reform directions and proposes key questions on which feedback is being sought. The
discussion paper is now available for consultation and the Department of Home Affairs is inviting submissions to the review of the points test by 5 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time on Friday 24 May 2024. Thank you for making a submission to inform the Government's review of the points test.
