It was one of the industries hardest hit by Covid, but now cruising has bounced back in a big way.

More Australians are now holidaying at sea than before the pandemic, and Flight Centre has jumped aboard the trend - opening its first store dedicated to cruises.

A team of passionate consultants helped launched the first Cruiseabout store opened in the Perth suburb of Whitfords this week.

Flight Centre Global Leisure CEO James Kavanagh has high hopes for the company's latest endeavour.

"It's really an affordable product now so that's why people are choosing to cruise - when you look at the price on a nightly basis it's actually often cheaper than if you need to book a hotel," Kavanagh said.

"When you speak to somebody who knows cruise they'll make sure that they personalise the experience and give you the right itinerary that allows you to have the perfect holiday."

Kavanagh said Cruiseabout is only just getting started - soon these shops will be popping up all over the country.

Next it's the Gold Coast later this month, followed by Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.

"Customers will have choice to actually call, come in store and see a person or book online - so the choice is really up to the customer at the end of the day," Kavanagh said.
