Scattered showers and storms possible Saturday evening into Sunday

Original source (on modern site)

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - We've been watching and waiting for the potential of another round of severe weather on Saturday afternoon and evening - but the good news is that threat has fallen significantly as severe storms to our south across Kansas and Oklahoma have zapped our thunderstorm potential. Scattered showers and thunderstorms - with an isolated strong to severe storm - will be possible through Saturday evening and Saturday night, but as of 5:30 PM Saturday evening, widespread severe storms aren't anticipated across the area.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible through Saturday evening and Saturday night across the coverage area - with an isolated strong to severe storm not entirely out of the question. As the surface low pushes north into the state into early Sunday, rain is expected to become more widespread for central and eastern Nebraska before that activity pushes north out of the area by the early to midafternoon hours. Some of these showers and storms could be on the strong side with quarter sized hail, 60 MPH wind gusts, and some localized areas of heavy rain.

There is a marginal risk for severe weather across the far eastern parts of the state for the day on Sunday, so as I just mentioned, we won't rule out one or two stronger thunderstorms on Sunday. Widespread severe storms are not expected.

A marginal and slight risk are in place for eastern and southeastern parts of the state on Sunday as some isolated severe storms are possible.(KOLN)

As far as temperatures go, look for morning lows to fall into the 30s, 40s, and 50s from west to east across the state. In Lincoln, lows should only dip into the mid 50s by early Sunday.

By the afternoon, we'll look for breezy conditions with a widespread in temperatures as highs will range from the low 40s in some spots across north central Nebraska to the low 70s in the far southeast.

The extended forecast stays busy with additional chances for showers and thunderstorms through the middle part of the work week next week. Look for temperatures to range from the upper 60s to the upper 70s as we finish April and begin May.
