The New England Patriots put a wrap on their 2024 NFL Draft by making yet another pick on the offensive side of the ball. Their eighth overall pick, and seventh on offense, was invested in Florida State tight end Jaheim Bell.

Bell was brought in as the 231st overall selection in the seventh round.

7-231 TE Jaheim Bell (Florida State)

Bernd Buchmasser: Bell is a good value pick in the seventh round, giving the Patriots some much-needed developmental depth at the tight end position. Whether he will live up to his potential as a package-specific move tight end remains to be seen, but bringing him in is definitely worth a shot. | B+

Brian Hines: Bell isn't overly dynamic but can threaten defenses as a pass-catcher up the seam and with the ball in his hands — making him a strong value pick with the 231st pick. He likely won't make much of an impact elsewhere, however, with his lack of size and inconsistent blocking technique. | B

With Bell in the mix, the Patriots now have five tight ends under contract. Only two of them, Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper, can be considered roster locks. Bell, meanwhile, will have to compete against Mitchell Wilcox and La'Michael Pettway for a spot on the team or practice squad.
