Health officials warn of measles exposure in Rock Co.

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WIFR) - Rock County Public Health (RCPH) warns the community of possible exposure to measles.

A Dane County individual spent time in Rock County while infectious. RCPH, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Public Health Madison and & County, and SSM Health work to identify and notify people who may have been exposed to the measles virus.

You may have been exposed to measles if you visited the following locations:

Anyone at these locations during these dates and times is asked to check their vaccination status. Anyone who is unvaccinated and was at these locations is asked to stay home and contact RCPH or their local health department for guidance.

SSM Health is working to contact patients who may have been exposed to measles while on campus during these times via MyChart or phone.

The measles virus is highly transmissible through coughing and sneezing. According to the CDC, "Infected people can spread measles to others from four days before through four days after the rash appears."
