Commitment Analysis: What Adou Thiero brings to Arkansas basketball

Original source (on modern site)

Former Kentucky forward Adou Thiero committed to Arkansas basketball on Monday. Here's what his addition to the roster means for the Razorbacks.

Former Kentucky forward Adou Thiero announced his commitment to Arkansas and John Calipari on Monday afternoon. The 6-8, 222-pound wing is the seventh addition to the Razorbacks roster for next season. He's the fourth to commit from the transfer portal, joining former Kentucky teammate Zvonimir Ivisic, former Tennessee center Jonas Aidoo and former Florida Atlantic guard Johnell Davis

At the time of his commitment, 247Sports had Thiero rated as the No. 10 overall transfer available in the 2024 class and No. 3 power forward. He originally committed to the Wildcats as part of the 2022 recruiting class, but he only played limited minutes as a freshman.

As a sophomore this past season, he showed much more promise despite missing eight games due to injury. He started in 19 of 25 games and averaged 7.2 points, 5.o rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 21 minutes per game Thiero finished the year shooting 49.2% from the field, 31.8% from three and 80.0% from the charity stripe.

Thiero's standout performances from last year include going for 16 points and 13 rebounds in an 89-84 loss to No. 1 Kansas on Nov. 11; recording 15 points, five rebounds and three blocks in an 89-85 loss to Gonzaga on Feb. 10 and tallying 14 points with eight rebounds in a 70-59 win at No. 13 Auburn on Feb. 17.

The former Wildcat finished the season with the second-most blocked shots on the Kentucky roster and recorded three or more blocks in four games. He also scored in double figures five times, led the team in rebounding on eight different occasions and was voted to College Sports Today's "Glue Guy" roster at season's end.

Here's a closer look at what Thiero is bringing to the Razorbacks and what it means as they continue to build Calipari's first roster in Fayetteville.
